About Cooper Dragonette:
In the fall of 2006, I took a year's leave of absence from my work of teaching painting to immerse myself in my own work to see what comes of such steady involvement. I work largely from photographs in the late fall, winter, and early spring as it's just a bit to cold here on the Maine coast to stay focused on painting while outdoors. I enjoy the challenge of plein air work, but relish the stability of my studio where most of my paintings are finished or worked on again in a larger format.
I have studied painting and fine arts at the university level and have a BFA in Painting. Still, I always feel I have more to learn and am challenged every time by a new painting.
